she is not coming back, not ever, not after today oh, couldn't you see (so easy) I swallowed your black minutes (so easy) this cycle just perpetuates its own exponential growth, so she's gonna say no, leave me alone so scared, so scared, so scared, so scared oh, couldn't you see (so easy) I swallowed our black minutes (so easy) so scared, so scared, so scared, so scared wake up feet, and remind me not to close my eyes heavy-lidded and so close to feline oh, couldn't you see (so easy) I swallowed our black minutes (so easy)

and she whispers, three times, quietly, like saints I turn from her face, I turn through the lace, I turn just in case she's changed her mind my eyes like pennies, my sun-blessed fingertips my heart is beating, beating, beating, beating inside my lips one, two, she's blue she remembers turning her head back and forth with ease she shook up her mind they were all of a kind trying so hard to find inside faith without regret a song for everyone, a word of commonality in moments like these these knocking knees wish you'd stayed behind one, two, she's blue sunday, she was proud she widened her eyes, she found a surprise she learned how to try with a fist full of words five alive, not so many survived five alive, he didn't survive under this skin, light-time for a cry under this skin, light-time for a cry she was all that I forgot to write on my skin, to hold under my chin to let loose and grin with arms wide across the sky sometimes the end of that song feels like the end of the world, and spinning, spinning, never winning she cried in our names one, two, she's blue her arms nothing she was the only breath awake she was under the wall and trying to crawl the smallest, after all should be expected to scream they said she was lucky, but like a real martyr I don't think she ever believed that cradle song one, two, she's blue and she whispers, three times, quietly like saints I turned from her face, I turned through the lace, I turned just in case she'd changed her mind my eyes like pennies, my sun-blessed fingertips my heart was beating inside my lips one, two, she's blue

about

"A Rochester teen schooled in choir brings a trio to back these offerings, and regardless of age this young woman is one to hear. Teen angst never besmirches her crystalline visions, and that voice, containing elements of Joni, Ani and Tori, sounds positively lush when backed with her own piano / guitar or the fine work (violinist Rebecca McCallum, cellist Heather Hutton, bassist Kathleen Fraser) by her accompanists...cloying adolescent whining is never there, but susurrant songs are. The kids, once again, are alright."

- Michael Caito, Providence Pheonix
